TDI Offers Assistance to
Beaumont Residents Hit by Recent Flooding
AUSTIN – Consumers affected by
the recent heavy rainfall in and around the
Beaumont area can contact the Texas Department
of Insurance (TDI) for answers to flood-related
insurance questions.
Typically, homeowners insurance policies do not
cover flooding. Coverage for damage caused by
rising waters must be obtained from the National
Flood Insurance Program (www.floodsmart.gov).
Your insurance agent can offer you more
information about flood insurance.
Flood damage to a vehicle may be covered by your
auto insurance if the policy has comprehensive
(“other than collision”) coverage.
Consumers who have had a loss from the recent
flooding should contact their insurance company
or agent to file a claim. For questions or
concerns about insurance (including workers’
compensation insurance), TDI offers the
following resources:
On the web: www.tdi.state.tx.us/consumer/confaq2006.html
